NHS HaZak Presents

Lunch & Program
Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Guest Speakers:
Judy Miller and Ed Churnov

After lunch on Wednesday, October 17th, NHS member Judy Miller spoke to the Hazak group about Circle Tail, a non-profit organization that trains service and hearing dogs. Circle Tail is a volunteer-based organization that was established in 1997. Circle Tail raises, trains and partners assistance dogs for qualified people with disabilities other than blindness at no charge. In addition, they also provide dog adoptions, obedience training, educational programs and boarding/grooming services to the public.

Judy Miller brought her own dog, Griffin, an Irish wolf hound, to show how an untrained dog behaves. Then Ed Churnov, a volunteer from Circle Tail, demonstrated what a well-trained dog can do with Hadley. Hadley was very calm and well behaved, and he could retrieve objects for Ed. By contrast, Griffin had trouble sitting still and was curious about the audience. When Ed took off Hadley's service vest, he showed a completely different personality, jumping around like a puppy. Clearly, he behaves very differently when he is at work.

For more information about Circle Tail, please visit their website www.circletail.org or email info@circletail.org.
