DAILY: (except for Shabbat)

Coffee Chat, 8:30 AM, hosted by Rabbi Schapera

Join Rabbi Schapera and other members of the Northern Hills community for a daily check-in and schmooze. How are you and your family doing? What's been on your mind? And don't forget your coffee!

HAVDALLAH KATAN, 10:00 AM, hosted by Rabbi Schapera

It's been such a long time since we've seen each other in person. I've missed seeing you all at Shabbat Katan and at Lily Pad. But we can see each other virtually over Zoom!
Havdallah is a ceremony that separates Shabbat from the six days of the week. Every day feels like the same right now, but having a short ritual helps to break up the days and remind of us of the Jewish calendar.
We'll sing songs, read a story, and finally see each other again! Don't forget to bring your (real or pretend) grape juice, spices, and havdallah candle!

JUDAISM BASICS, 1:00 - 2:30PM biweekly, hosted by Rabbi Ferro

A class for individuals interested in learning more about Jewish religion and culture. Whether you are interested in conversion, a partner of someone interested in conversion, or merely want to learn more about the basics of Jewish history, thought, and practice, you are encouraged to attend. Classes meet biweekly on Sundays, 1:00-2:30 PM.

MUSSAR MONDAYS, 1:00 PM, hosted by Rabbi Ferro

Join Rabbi Ferro for a deep dive into the world of feeling, character, and intrapersonal intelligence from a Jewish perspective. Part meditation, part study, and part workshop, this class invites you to bring personal experiences and insights alongside milestones, struggles, and dilemmas to share with fellow learners.

TALMUD STUDY, 9:00 PM, hosted by Rabbi Ferro

Join Rabbi Noah Ferro every Monday at 9:00 PM for Talmud study. We are in the middle of Tractate Shabbat and are always happy to have newcomers!

Parashat HaShavua, 12pm - 1pm, hosted by Rabbinic Intern Sam Schauvaney

Join Rabbinic Intern Sam Schauvaney every Tuesday to study Parshat Ha'Shavuah together virtually. Judaism's Torah reading cycle can provide a sense of stability and comfort in an otherwise uncertain time.

We will come together l'aasok b'divrei torah (busy ourselves with the study of Torah) by looking at the text itself, what commentators throughout Jewish history have said, and exploring how the text relates to us in modern times. Feel free to bring your lunch!

PROPHETESSES OF ISRAEL, 4:00 PM, hosted by Rabbi Schapera

Join Rabbi Samantha Schapera to talk about the seven prophetesses of Israel. These seven women were identified by the rabbis Talmud tractate Megillah. We will spend the next several weeks looking at the Talmudic definition of a prophetess and compare that definition with our own today.

Our classes will meet via Zoom every Wednesday at 4:00 pm. In the chat box of Zoom, you will be provided with a link to a packet with the Biblical and Talmudic texts which will also be shared on the screen during the meeting.

CAFE IVRIT, 2:00 - 3:00 PM hosted by Rabbi Ferro

For advanced Hebrew speakers. Join Rabbi Ferro for an hour of talking and learning about Hebrew, in Hebrew!

PIRKEI AVOT, 7:30 - 8:30 PM, hosted by Rabbi Barnard

Wisdom for life from our Jewish sages! Learn how to live with other people, with yourself, and with God, through studying this classic of world ethical literature, and rediscover some of Judaism's greatest hits.

INTERVIEW SERIES, hosted by Rabbi Schapera

Each week, a video will be released of an interview with Rabbi Schapera and a member of the Northern Hills Synagogue. You'll get a chance to learn about the passions and hidden talents of your community members!

Each week, a member of the NHS-CBA community will record themselves reciting 3 prayers of Friday night (candles, kiddush, and hamotzi). Some will even share a song, story, or teaching about the parashah! Videos will be released every Friday. Check out our YouTube page here!
