Morning service was held at
Hebrew Union College at 9 a.m. The Jewish
Federation of Cincinnati’s Partnership 2000 committee, Adath
Israel, Ohav Shalom and Northern Hills Congregations of Cincinnati,
Beth Israel of Hamilton, and Beth Israel Congregation of Baltimore
wrapped
Teffilin
together through a videoconference organized in Cincinnati and also
held in Baltimore and Netanya. The program was open to the entire community.
The highlight
was a live videoconference hookup with Laniado Hospital in Netanya,
Israel, Cincinnati’s Partnership 2000 city,
where Rabbi George Barnard was one of the participants.
World Wide
Wrap (WWW), sponsored by the Federation of Jewish Men’s
Clubs (FJMC), is held annually on the morning of Super Bowl Sunday.
The WWW program is designed to introduce and re-introduce Jewish men,
women,
and families to the significance of "laying" Teffilin
and creating tikkun olam.
Several NHS members
were in attendance. Following the shacharit service, Dr. Mark Raider,
Chair of the UC Judaic Studies Department, spoke about the role of American
Jewry in the establishment of the State of Israel. |
