World Wide Wrap
Sunday, February 3, 2013

On Sunday morning, February 3, Kehilla, the joint religious school of Congregation Ohav Shalom and Northern Hills Synagogue, celebrated the World Wide Wrap, which the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs organizes on Super Bowl Sunday to teach the mitzvah of wrapping tefillin.

Instructed not only in the process but also in the meaning and significance of wrapping tefillin by Rabbi George Barnard and Moreh Maksim Shilkrot, Director of Education for Kehilla, the students in grades 3-7 put on the tefillin, many for the first time, with the aid of members of our congregations.

“Kehilla” is Hebrew for “community”; the instruction of Kehilla students at our joint celebration of the World Wide Wrap was truly a community event.
